Serif is looking for a bright and talented front-end developer to join our growing creative team in Columbus, OH. This position is open for both full-time and part-time support.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced developer who can manage eCommerce and marketing CMS’s driven websites. Having a passion for writing fast and maintainable custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while ensuring frontend performance best practices, will help to keep our strategy & design team up to speed with new digital initiatives.
We are looking for a developer who is comfortable working with designers, outside consultants, and marketers to create stunning web layouts. We also want a problem solver, who can take initiative to optimize UI elements within the CMS or other areas of improvement. Experience and willingness to share project management processes to optimize our workflows is another desired skill for this position. We are seeking a self-starter, who can work independently, and with other members of the team on problems as required by the project.
Three keys to success:
- Comfort / or / experience having worked with a CMS. Plus for experience with; WordPress, Contentful, Shopify.
- Managing expectations of various stakeholders and consistently delivering value
- Taking initiative and bringing creative energy to problem solving
Experience with the following is a plus:
- WordPress, WordPress advanced custom fields.
- Shopify
- Object-oriented patterns
- Strong theming / structured content principles
- Agile project management methodologies
- Git and GitHub pull request/code review workflows
- Experience with asana, notion wiki, or similar ticketing tool is a plus
Responsibilities include:
- Work within WordPress theming system, ability to learn Shopify thumbing system, to create templates and preprocess functions to implement features using industry best practices.
- Use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to implement the visual design and user interactions for websites and web apps.
- Implement designs using a mobile-first approach to creating pleasant, performant experiences on all devices (e.g. smartphones, tablets, and desktops).
- Engineer first class user interactions using modern JavaScript best practices and frameworks.
- Experience implementing web designs within branded style guidelines.
